Musharraf Called Into Special Court
Friday, December 13th, 2013 3:31:44 by Ahmad MehdiIt was reported from Islamabad that the special court has summoned former President of Pakistan and retired General Pervez Musharraf on 24th December 2013.
Musharraf’s treason trial was the main agenda before the 2013 elections were about to start. However, it was halted because of several reasons. The former president of Pakistan has been charged with high treason under the Article 6 of Pakistan’s constitution.
The former Pakistani president was under house arrest for a few months after he was arrested while trying to compete for the Elections 2013. He was not able to stand as a candidate for these elections as the Supreme Court claimed that he was not eligible to do so.
Now, the special court has been summoned only to end the trial for General Pervez Musharraf. There is going to be a three-member bench which will be headed by Sindh High Court’s Justice, Faisal Arab, Balochistan High Court’s Justice, Syed Tahira Safdar, and Lahore High Court’s Justice, Yawar Ali.
The first meeting of this special court is going to take place on Friday evening. The registrar of the special court claimed that the first meeting saw the complaint of the interior ministry being reviewed.
The registrar was the one who confirmed Musharraf’s summoning on 24th of December.
