Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S), Maulana Sami-ul-Haq has formally started making contacts with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, which has been responsible for countless bomb blasts, executions and killings inside Pakistan over the course of the last decade or so.
According to sources close to the situation, Maulana has laid forward some conditions to the government which include the immediate end of the so-called war on terror and withdrawal of intelligence sharing activities with the US, specifically when it comes to drones.
“This fire can only be extinguished through dialogue process,” sources quoted Maulana.
Sami-ul-Haq is also seeking a complete guarantee for the Pakistani Premier Nawaz Sharif that no effort will be made to sabotage the peace process. He has reportedly also demanded of the government to make a clear anti anti-drone stance. It should be remembered that it was a drone strike on Hakimullah Mehsud, the slain TTP chief, which completely broke off the peace earlier peace talk initiative by the Pakistani government.
The reports of JUI-S’s initiative were confirmed by their spokesman, Maulana Yousaf Shah recently.
“We want to get rid of all obstacles that could halt dialogue process only then lasting peace can be restored in the area,” spokesman informed.
