Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 7:09:01 by Maleeha TareenSpokesperson for Mehsud Taliban group, Azam Tariq, has announced that his group is severing ties with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) this Wednesday May 28, 2014. Azam claimed that individual ideologies had created a rift among various Taliban groups and there was a deviation from the real cause.
Azam Tariq accused the existing Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan leadership was involved in attacking public places with bombs using bogus names. He claimed that money was being extorted from madrassahs and other institutions which was not acceptable.
The spokesperson said that efforts were made to reform Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, however, those were without any success.
Azam Tariq announced their leader of the group. He said, “We announce our defection from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, we have chosen Khalid Mehsud as the new leader for South Waziristan.” Khalid Mehsud is previously known as Khan Said alias Sajna.
Khalid Mehsud had worked closely with Waliur Rehman Mehsud, the former Mehsud Taliban chief . Waliur Rehman Mehsud died as a result of a US drone strike in May 2013.
The separation of the Mehsud group was imminent after the fighting between various factions of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan started earlier. The spokesperson claimed that some other groups will also part their ways with TTP.
The peace negotiation between government of Pakistan and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan which had reached a dead end for many weeks now has no hope of revival now.
