Pervez Khattak threatens to shut down electric supply to Punjab
Wednesday, July 16th, 2014 1:40:43 by Khalil KhanKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has threatened on Wednesday July 16, 2014 to shut down the electricity supply to Punjab if his province did not get its right to receive 2000MW electric supply while leading a protest rally against excessive load shedding in the province.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister said that uncontrolled electricity supply is our right according to local television channel. Our province produces surplus electricity, gas and oil, but we have neither electricity nor gas. He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa produces 3500 MW and the consumption across the province is only 2400MW thus produce surplus 900 MW. The Chief Minister said that KPK should get 2000MW but only 1300MW electricity is being supplied. Pervez Khattak further said that KPK produce electricity at the rate of Rs 4 per unit and buy it back from the federal government at Rs16-18 per unit.
Pervez Khattak threatened that if WAPDA officials did not correct their attitude, then KPK government will withdraw the security from WAPDA installations.
Pervez Khattak also said that center should approve Rs3 billion to upgrade 5 grid stations in the province. He said that if Punjab can stop supply of wheat then we can also shut down the electric supply to Punjab.
