ISPR denies role of army in current political crisis in Pakistan
Monday, September 1st, 2014 10:57:37 by Shakira SubhaniInter Services Public Rellations (ISPR) issued a press statement to deny charges by some politicians about Pakistan Army’s involvement in the current political crisis in Pakistan on September 1, 2014.
The statement said, “ISPR has categorically rejected the assertions that Army and ISI were backing PTI/PAT in anyway in the current political standoff”.
“Army is an apolitical institution and has expressed its unequivocal support for democracy at numerous occasions,” statement further added. “It is unfortunate that Army is dragged into such controversies.”
ISPR statement said, “Integrity and unity of the Army is its strength which it upholds with pride.”
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf president Javed Hashmi has alleged the involvement of army in the current protests against government in Islamabad.
