Muslims around the world react to Donald Trump’s victory
Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 5:58:47 by fatimaarshadAfter Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential race, Muslims all over the world are in a state of shock and uncertainty. During his campaign speeches, Trump widely used his anti-Islamic tirade to appeal to the masses and the people of America responded by electing him as the President.
“I’m very afraid, will there be more wars? Will America attack Muslim countries again?” asked Indonesian activist Alijah Diete, who looked visibly nervous from the news.
People around the world were dumbfounded when news of Trump’s win hit the airwaves. The foremost question on everyone’s mind right now is whether Trump will carry out all the threats he made against the Muslims during his speeches.
The people of Pakistan, Indonesia and Bangladesh, which have more than a third of the world’s 1.5 billion Muslim, are the ones who are really worried since the US’s foreign policies have a direct impact on these countries.
The top-most concerning problems for Muslims around the world seem to be Trump’s pledge to oust all Muslims from America and a resulting increase in militancy driven by tougher American policies.
A senior Pakistani government official, speaking anonymously, called the news “absolutely atrocious and horrifying” while others in the country also lamented the results.
“I am disappointed to see Donald Trump winning because Hillary Clinton is a good woman, she is good for Pakistan and Muslims all over the world,” said Ishaq Khan, 32, speaking at an Islamabad market.
“She was talking about world peace ? but Trump was talking about fighting against Muslims.”
“Americans have just screwed the world yet again,” said Syed Tashfin Chowdhury, a Bangladeshi who has several close friends in the US.
Meanwhile Muslims living in the US are also contemplating moving from there, should a Trump regime make it really hard for them to live in the US.
