After the rebel ex-home minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza made the claim that he has a major support of several lawmakers and legislators of his party.
Pakistan People’s Party carried out a parliamentary group meeting of their Sindh Assembly legislators on Friday, in which they vowed to remain faithful and follow the rules of the party.
84 legislators attended the meeting, which also includes ‘friends’ of ex-home minister as well. A total of nine legislators didn’t attend the meeting because five of them were out of the city, while two are gone to perform Hajj and two others were unwilling to attend the meeting.
In this meeting, the friends of Dr, Mirza assured the attendees of the meeting that they would not take part in any sort of activity that would spoil the reputation of the party. In addition to that, Dr Mirza’s friends also put it in plain words that their relation with the famous Liyari leader, were in personal capacity.
President Asif Ali Zardari especially directed Minister of Religious Affairs, Syed Khursheed Shah to attend this meeting, who flew to Karachi on Friday. Where, after two hours of discussions the lawmakers showed confidence in the headship of President Zardari and Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah assured the members of the meeting that government was not going to take any decision on the local government system that was diluted after former President of Pakistan Prevaiz Mushraf’s regime got over. The Chief Minister said that they wouldn’t revive local government system, as it was not recognized by the people of Sindh.
This assurance by the Chief Minister came, because some of the PPP legislators declined to detach from Dr Mirza and supported in opposing the revival of the local government system in Sindh.
However, even after the parliamentary party meeting, the PPP legislators failed to distant some of their ministers from Dr Mirza. As far as the call of provincial assembly session for the introduction of the new bill of the local government system based on the SLGO 2011 was concerned, it was scraped by the unfavourable reaction of the PPP ministers, advisors of the chief minister and their lawmakers.
