Winston Churchill inspired me a great deal, says Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani

Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has revealed that he drew a great deal of inspiration from Winston Churchill, the great British politician.

Gilani was addressing in a function organized by the Federal Board of Intermediate and secondary education in the honour of the award-winning students of Metric and Intermediate levels at the PM’s secretariat on Friday.

“One should be firm without being rough”, Gilani read one of Churchill’s excerpt while addressing the students.

The Pakistani Prime Minister revealed that he wants to be remembered for long.

“It is my desire to be remembered as a person who shunned the politics of vengeance”, he was quoted as saying according to APP.

He stressed that during his tenure as Prime Minister, there had not been a single political prisoner.

“I did not take revenge even from those who put me in jail for five years on giving jobs to the unemployed”, he added.

Gilani then went on to quote another Churchill’s excerpt, “The empires of the future are the empires of the mind”.

After reading the Churchill’s excerpt, he urged the students to follow this golden rule in their lives.

“We want people to learn skills and get specialized knowledge to prove them as an asset for the nation”, Gilani said.

The PM then eloquently pointed out that those days are long gone when only idle people joined politics in Pakistan.

“Gone are the days when only idles joined politics in this country”, and believe that it is now the field of educated people.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) nominated Gilani for the post of Prime Minister in March 2008, and he was elected as the PM on March 24^th2008.
