Lahore Arts Council (LAC) has scheduled a one-day seminar at Al-Hamra Hall one of Al-Hamra Arts Council, on Sunday October 16, to celebrate Faiz Ahmad Faiz year. A number of literary personalities will pay tribute to Faiz, presenting their valuable remarks about the Faiz’s poetic work.
Well-reputed writers and daughters of Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Salima Hashmi and Muneza Hashmi will be chief guests of the event named “Faiz – the poet of peace and freedom” and a prominent writer, columnist and lawyer, Abid Hassan Manto will preside the seminar.
Chairman LAC, At-ul-Haq Qasmi, an inspirational drama writer and intellectual, will made inaugural speech.
The Program will be held in two session, first session, starting at 4:00 p.m. will include remarks of famous literary personalities, while the second session will be a musical tribute by a popular singer Saira Naseem, who would sing some famous poems of Faiz.
Intezar Hussain, Doctor Saleem Akhtar, Masood Ashar, Professor Khursheed Rizvi, Doctor Tahseen Faraqi, Professor Fakhar-ul-Haq Noori and Asghar Nadeem Saeed will share their remarks about the poetic brilliance of Faiz.
Faiz combined revolutionary ideas and social messages in an inspiring way to make radical changes in the way the poetry was written. Faiz, prominently known as the poet of humanity and love, used a message of peace, love for country, and peaceful ideology in his words. His commitment to spread peace, maintain freedom, justice and equality in the motherland were main features of his poetry.
Faiz’s poetic brilliance, especially the work he written during his exile, has been regarded as one of the best Urdu literature in the World. His many books has been translated in many languages of the World.
A collection of his works, Nuskha’a Wafa is considered among the most popular poetry books written in Urdu. Other poetic works of Faiz, includes Naqsh-e-Faryadi, Dast-e-Saba, Zindan-Nama, Dast-e-Tah-e-Sung, Mere Dil Mere Musafir and Sar-e-Wadi-e-Sina.
The seminar will be one of the many events, including conferences, exhibitions and musical shows, which has been planned after government declared 2011 as the Faiz Year. Many events has taken place in different cities and many has been arranged in big cities like Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta and Faisalabad.
