Intimidating dengue mosquito takes seven more lives in Lahore
Tuesday, October 18th, 2011 6:43:31 by Muhammad UmarDengue mosquitoes attack continues to prevail in the Punjab metropolis, as seven more dengue patients lost the battle against dengue at various hospitals and healthcare centres, while the death toll due to dengue surged to 265, in Lahore, on Monday, October 17th.
Shah Jahan, 42, a resident of Thoker Niaz Baig, Hina Ismael, 18, a resident of Model Town died of dengue at Jinnah Hospital. In the meantime, Amna, 36, a resident of Krishan Nagar passed away at Sir Gangaram Hospital. Khalida Zaheer, 52, an inhabitant of Mughalpura succumbed to dengue at Services Hospital.
Tanveer, 25, a resident of Mozang Road, Musarrat Bano, 53, an occupant of Sant Nagar and Anwari Bibi, 60, an inhabitant of Mughalpura died due to dengue at Gangaram and Ghurki hospitals, respectively. Moreover, Ishrat Bibi, 23, a resident of Toba Tek Singh lost her life due to dengue fever at Allied Hospital.
It has been reported by the officials of various hospitals and healthcare centres that around about 52 dengue patients were diagnosed positive at Mayo Hospital. Meanwhile, 19 dengue victims were tested positive at Gangaram Hospital, 23 in Services Hospital, 26 in Jinnah Hospital and 32 patients in Institute of Public Health.
Furthermore, around about 20 dengue patients were tested positive at General Hospital, 18 in Children’s Hospital. In addition, 91dengue patients are in different public, private, laboratories and healthcare centres in the province. More importantly, over 27000 dengue patients are in the metropolitan area, of whom, 17000 people belong to Lahore.
We are in the month of October and still the epidemic has not been controlled by the government of Punjab. Meanwhile, The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab has urged to the attention that the whole society would need to work as collective unit in order to kill the dengue mosquitoes.
Meanwhile, dengue epidemic has stretched to other provinces of the country, wherein some new dengue cases have been reported in Khyber Pakhtuwan, Sindh, and Balochistan.
All the governmental organizations and healthcare centres need to do is to address dengue issue openly at both the local and international forum so that we may be able to control over the disease.
