We need friends not masters

Pakistani leadership has been playing at the hands of super powers since its birth and has lost a fair share of national integrity in this futile practice. The power game between USSR and USA was continuing at the time when Pakistan appeared on the map of world and both the giants realised the geographical importance of largest Muslim state of that time. Two options were kept before the pioneer leadership of newly born state and they opted to go with the United States of America due to the common cause of anti Socialism emotions against Russia.
The leadership of Pakistan, that was facing huge challenges of rehabilitation of more than 20 million people, failed to form a balanced foreign policy and bowed before the western powers. The inexperienced leadership of Pakistan totally ignored the importance of the then superpower USSR and meanwhile our neighbours, India, took the initial steps with greater care which proved result orienting in the long run. Unlike Pakistan, the leadership of India decided to treat both the tussling nations in the best interests of their own and ultimately laid a strong foundation of their better future.
The difference between the successful foreign policies of India and Pakistan are quite obvious today. India has established itself as an integrant, well known for its rich traditions, largest democracy on the face of earth and moreover emerging economic hub of the world. India is way forward than Pakistan in every run of life due their timely and wise decisions.
Today, most nations of the world rushes towards India and try to avoid Pakistan for their large begging habits. The general formula of international relations lies in the open secret of ‘friend of a friend is your friend and enemy of your friend is undisputed enemy of yours’. But, the case with India is entirely different, Israel and Iran both are their friends. Russia and United States are again their logistic partners. Numbers of Muslim countries have closer ties with India than Pakistan.
America, that has always remained blue eyed for the leadership of Pakistan, has used our military and political leadership as they needed but still they are hurting us on so many fronts. They first used the military dictators against Russia in Afghan war and managed to scatter USSR in many independent states. Later on, the Mujahidins, who were supported by USA in previous Afghan war, became the threat for them and Pakistan, like as always, surrendered before the American orders and jumped into an endless war of helplessness. Consequently, our western borders have become greater threat for our survival, which never required a soldier before.
The so-called war on terror has cost Pakistan worst ever damage to its slumping economy and the foreign investment is almost equal to none at the moment. Hundreds of thousands of people have lost their lives in the never committed sins or in the blind love of our rulers towards America. Ironically, the demands of “Do more” stands still from more of our masters than the friends after that much sacrifices.
Drone attacks are continuing without any acknowledgements of our territorial sovereignty. The latest aggression of America in Abbot Abad incident describes Pakistan’s mutual relations with USA in the best way.
We should form a foreign policy that seek friends not the masters because this is the only way to live like integrant nations on the basis of equality.
