The brain behind some immensely successful television series in Pakistan, Shoaib Mansoor created another epic flick to shock the world. It caters to the untold and untouched stories of Pakistan and mainly aims to raise voice against these unacceptable realities and actions.
Famous Pakistani singer, Atif Aslam made his debut in movies by Bol but the flick is a tour de force, in terms of performances by two main characters. One of the main characters is played by the rising television star, Humaima Malik, who plays character of Zainub. Belonging to a lower middle class, Zainub is about to hang in the opening but her only wish is to tell her tale. She killed her father, Manzar Sehbhai – the second main character, to save her infant step sister’s life. Zainub’s father also killed her hermaphrodite brother and she never forgave him.
The emotional saga is halted with the hanging of Zainub leaving the society to wonder many questions.
The much awaited Bol was not only praised by Pakistani top celebrities but was acknowledged worldwide. Naseeruddin Shah, a famous veteran Bollywood actor, said, “Bol is absolutely the kind of film that Khuda Ke Liye should be followed up by. It deals with an even more important statement like faith and empowerment of women. I have seldom seen a statement made with as much power and feeling as this film. This is yet another film to be proud of. I can only find myself wishing I was a part of this film”.
Shah acted in Shoaib Mansoor’s previous hit, Khuda Ke Liye, and really loved the movie. The actor went on to say, “I have had the good fortune to work in Shoaib Mansoor’s Khude Ke Liye and I consider it to be the most significant film that I’ve done in my life.”
The movie was released on June 24th, 2011 under geo productions and it broke all records in Pakistan. It grossed PKR 22.038 million in six days and broke record of Shahruk Khan’s My Name is Khan which did a business of PKR 21.658 millions in six days in Pakistan.
Shoaib Mansoor’s master piece, Bol, is a must watch film for peoples of every age or gender.
