CORPORATE SPAMMING – Spam Emails
Wednesday, October 19th, 2011 8:09:51 by Awais KhanWe continue our discourse on Corporate Spamming culture, taking a closer look on the increasing number of spam emails routed to the inboxes of customers.
Spam Emails
Its not only our phones that are plagued, the email accounts aren’t safe from spammers either. This becomes a double trouble for people that have their emails setup on their mobile phones and have to deal with one spam message twice. Again there are two types of spammers, those who know who you are and those that spam blindly.
I am a UBL bank account holder and Mobilink cell phone user and I get unwanted messages from both. I am also an HSBC credit card owner and PTCL internet user, now if HSBC and PTCL do not send promotional mails ever why must UBL and Mobilink find it so compelling to do so? Every now and then UBL sends emails about debit card discounts and other promotions. Mobilink could sent me Eid greetings via SMS along with their numerous promotional messages but they chose email so they could publicize their flood donations.
Meanwhile AbacusConsulting is an organization that I have had nothing to do with, ever. And yet they found my personal email address somehow to send Eid wishes. If they don’t know who I am or what my name is, why is it so important to wish me? And apart from the fact that my visit to the mentioned link will increase traffic on their site, what good is the idea? Why on earth would I want to see an Eid card that is not even personlaized?
I think it’s about time these businesses started taking more responsibility and showing ethics especially the MNCs that could learn a lot from their ethical operations in the West.
