Google and Samsung announce their latest Galaxy Nexus Smartphone

After months of anticipation, Google and Samsung announced on Wednesday, October 19, their latest Galaxy Nexus Smartphone, which will be their latest addition to the Google’s. This phone has Android 4.0 as its Operating System (OS) which is more popularly known as the “Ice Cream Sandwich”.

The new operating system will merge the Android’s tablet OS (version 3.0, also known as Honeycomb) with the smartphone OS (version 2.3, aka Gingerbread).

The operating system featured in Galaxy Nexus is not an updated OS but it is a completely revolutionised OS, with removed the physical navigation buttons along with the addition of entirely new fonts, known as “Roboto” for user interface menu.

This latest 135g Google device will be featuring the much improved specifications, which are already catching rave reviews, after the launch of much anticipated release of I phone 5, earlier this month.

 

The latest Google launch is amassing popularity for its 4.65-inch High Definition Super AMOLED (1,280 x 720) display that is expected to be the key seller for this device. The Galaxy Nexus is studded with 1 GB of RAM, a built-in NFC chip, a 4G radio for either the HSPA+ or LTE network, a barometer and a dual camera. The front camera is only 1.3-mega pixels whereas the rear view camera boasts decent 5-megapixels with no shutter lag at all.

While addressing the press conference at the release of the latest flagship phone in Google’s Nexus line, on Wednesday, the Senior Vice President of Mobile for Google said, “Ice Cream Sandwich demonstrates the Android platform’s continued innovation with one release that works on phones and tablets and everything in between. Features like Android Beam and Face Unlock show the innovative work our team is doing, and GALAXY Nexus showcases the power behind Ice Cream Sandwich”

Samsung and Google are working hard to give the best Android smartphone experience for its customers. The struggle to better their existing status will go on until they establish themselves as market leaders in the ever growing world of Telecommunication.

As shared by the makers of the third phone in the nexus family, this latest launch will take the idea of multi-tasking to a whole new level, with Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC support and a full web browsing experience. It is not only limited to just that but this phone offers access to 300,000 applications which can be directly purchased by the Android market.

Through Android 4.0, the market perception of smartphones is in line for a huge change. With this launch, the makers are now bent on making it a simple yet beautiful mobile experience for all.
