According to reports, five more people died due to dengue attack, in Lahore, on Wednesday, October 19th.
Javed Asghar, 50, a resident of Islampura succumbed to dengue at Mayo Hospital, while Nabila, 35, an inhabitant of Icchra lost battle against dengue at Services Hospital. Meanwhile, Nazir Ahmad, 60, a resident of Sandha lost his life due to dengue fever at Gangaram Hospital and Muhammad Ali, 20, an inhabitant of Mazang Road died of dengue at Gangaram Hospital. Finally, Head Constable Muhammad Anwer passed away at Doctor’s Hospital.
As many as 28,684 dengue cases have been registered. Around about 290 dengue patients were diagnosed positive, surging the total number of dengue victims up to 18,000, in Lahore. More or less 60 dengue cases were reported at Mayo Hospital, while 17 at Children’s Hospital. Moreover, 30 dengue patients were tested positive at Jinnah Hospital and 22 at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. 11 dengue cases were diagnosed positive at Services Hospital, whereas 12 at Lahore General Hospital. Approximately, 25 dengue patients were tested positive at Shaikh Zayed Hospital and 19 at Institute of Public Health. In addition, 98 dengue sufferers were reported positive in both the private and public healthcare centres and hospitals in the province.
It seems that the government of Punjab have failed to overcome the disease in the metropolis. That led to create an immense mental fatigue and depression among the masses. Another alarming fact is that many authorized bodies have been found guilty due to their heavy corruption in various dengue awareness programs. The epidemic seems to be continuing in city of Lahore.
In the meantime, Arif Nadeem, Punjab Agriculture Secretary commenting on the dengue issue stated that Punjab government would offer financial aid programs to the heirs of all those people, who lost their lives due to dengue fever at both the private and public healthcare centres and hospitals in the metropolis.
Furthermore, the focal person for dengue, Nadeem pointed out that Punjab government have launched a vector surveillance campaign in various areas of the province. More or less 1850 places outside the housing areas had been scrutinized.
Moreover, he said that 91 percent residential areas were found to be vector free. At the same time, almost 7270 places inside the residential areas had been inspected, out of which 97 percent housing areas were found to be dengue free.
