BlackBerry users get worth USD100 apps for free by RIM as compensation

Good news for the BlackBerry users, as they will be enjoying free BlackBerry apps worth USD100 from Wednesday, October 19 until December 31. This package has been offered by the BlackBerry makers, Research in Motion (RIM), as a compensation for the users, who were affected by the service outage across the globe last week.

The RIM resources stated yesterday that all those BlackBerry members who suffered due to the service outage will be able to download different apps of worth USD100 from the company’s app store. For starters, following apps will appear in BlackBerry App World as per offer on Wednesday, October 19. RIM also stated that more apps will be released within the next four weeks.

SIMS 3 – Electronic Arts
Bejeweled – Electronic Arts
N.O.V.A. – Gameloft
Texas Hold’em Poker 2 – Gameloft
Bubble Bash 2 – Gameloft
Photo Editor Ultimate – Ice Cold Apps
DriveSafe.ly Pro – iSpeech.org
iSpeech Translator Pro – iSpeech.org
Drive Safe.ly Enterprise – iSpeech.org
Nobex Radio™ Premium – Nobex
Shazam Encore – Shazam
Vlingo Plus: Virtual Assistant – Vlingo

Besides, RIM will also provide the customers with a one-month extension to the technical support contracts. A month’s free helpline support will be given to the enterprise customers and those who do not have the technical support contract.

Co-chief executive of RIM, Mike Lazaridis said, “We are grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers for their patience. We have apologised to our customers and we will work tirelessly to restore their confidence. We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again.”

Last week, millions of BlackBerry users across the map were unable to send any messages, emails or browse web due to a technical problem in RIM network. The network stopped working for a couple of days. However, the problem was solved later but many of the BlackBerry users lost their trust in the company which is the main concern of RIM.

Analysts forecast that RIM will be spending a huge amount of money paying out up to 70 million BlackBerry customers around the world and the fund they should pay to bring their users back would be USD12m a day. This could mean that RIM will be spending over USD100m and this amount might escalate every time the BlackBerry service is out.
