Cinepax Preview: In Time (October 28, 2011)

In a future not very, time becomes more precious than anything else in the world. Minutes have replace pennies and hours have replaced dollars. This is the future depicted by Andrew Niccol in his new thriller, In Time.

The corrupt system favours the rich, who can live forever whereas the poor are deprived of this basic necessity. They have to beg, steal or purchase minutes to survive through the day.

Will Salas (Justin Timberlake) is an ordinary citizen who manages his time every day to the make it to the next. However, one evening he encounters a stranger who is gifted with unlimited days and weeks. The man gives away his lifetime to Salas while he is asleep and embraces death in trade.

With unlimited life, Salas can do anything and he does. He becomes rich but his overnight success raises some flags in the law enforcement agencies and soon he is convicted of murder.

Now Salas is on the run and should figure out a way to bring down the corrupt system and bring equality to the society.

Accompanying Timberlake (The Social Network) on the big screen is Amanda Seyfried (Mean Girls) as Sylvia Weis and Cillian Murphy (Inception) as Raymond Leon, who is in pursuit of Salas to liberate Weis from his captivity. However, when reality dawns on Weis, she opts to side with Salas.

The movie is written and directed by Andrew Niccol, who brought Lord of War to theatres in 2005. Nicolas Cage’s Lord of War made huge success and made big money in the box-office.

In Time is produced by Marc Abraham, who also produced the British blockbuster Children of Men in 2006.

The plot of the film looks a little vague but a complete commentary can only be made when it hits the cinemas. Regency Enterprises is set to release this futuristic feature worldwide on October 28. Cinepax has bought its rights in Rawalpindi and the box-office business is expected to start rolling concurrently with international release.
