Six more people die due to dengue in the city, death toll mounts 285

 

 

Intimidating dengue virus took life of six more people in the city and the total death toll due to dengue pandemic mounts to 285 from 279, in Lahore, on Thursday, October 20th.

58 years old Rahat Bano of Raj Garh, 27 years old Zahid Bashir of Chah Miran, 19 years old Kiran Rasheed of Chungi Amar Sadhu, 45 years-old Rubina of Green Town, 47 years old Muhammad Javed of Sodiwal and 76 years old Rafiqa Bibi of Town Ship died due to dengue fever in different hospitals and healthcare centres in the city, on Thursday.

Approximately, 300 dengue cases were diagnosed positive at various hospitals and clinics, surging the total number of dengue patients up to 28,980 in the district. Around about 36 dengue patients were identified positive in Mayo Hospital, 13 in Children’s Hospital and 29 in Jinnah Hospital.

More or less, 30 dengue cases were reported positive in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, 24 in Services Hospital and 19 in Lahore General Hospital. In addition, 24 dengue victims were tested positive in Shaikh Zayed Hospital and 26 in Institute of Public Health.  Moreover, 84 dengue patients were tested positive at various private and public hospitals, including laboratories and clinics in the metropolitan area.

In the meantime, DG Dr. Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry revealed the latest facts and figures about the dengue awareness reports of last one and half months in front of the Sri Lankan team of dengue experts, who were in a visit to the Punjab Health Services Directorate General, on Thursday. Several other representatives were present during the briefing, including Lahore EDO Health Dr Munir Ahmad, CDC Director Dr Mubashar Malik and Director Health Information Management System Dr Muhammad Anwar Janjua. The Sri Lankan team of dengue experts and researchers were satisfied due to the social works of the Punjab government for the control of the dengue pandemic.

At the end of the briefing, The Sri Lankan team of dengue experts revealed that government and higher authorities should be ready for the next dengue attack which is expected to arrive in the next monsoon season in the country. So, both private and public healthcare organizations should implement the measures for the eradication of dengue as quickly as possible.
