Sal’s Khan Academy has laid foundations for the future E-schools

With the advent of internet, change is one word which has found its true meaning to the fullest. Be it for better or for worse, every sector of life is experiencing it.

This is not only restricted to just a few sectors but it has affected all walks of life alike. In my view point, it has sculptured business and communication industry to see newest avenues of success which were virtually unknown to mankind before.

Business world has blossomed into a pool of opportunities with the risk factor for aspiring entrepreneurs almost nullified. This is so because networking which is the basic key to the success of an infant business is no more a problem in the world of mushrooming social network websites.

Another link of that chain is “Khan Academy” that has created turbulent waves in the education sector, which has been acknowledged as a big step towards the future of Education.

It all started with a video upload on basics of mathematics on YouTube by Salman Khan for his cousin, Nadia, which gained so much popularity without any marketing or publicity that the founder of Khan Academy, Salman Khan, who was working as a hedge fund analyst then decided to forego his job, to work on his YouTube channel educational videos covering mainly topics from mathematics to science.

Khan, more popularly known as Sal, has dedicated himself towards creating such an educational platform, which brings the world class knowledge to anyone, who has the desire to learn. His educational e-school is an attempt towards the freedom of education from the shackles of monetary constraints.

He has gained recognition from notables such as Bill Gates, who himself admitted that he also uses Khan Academy to revise his murky concepts. Also, search engine giant, Google, sponsored Sal’s not-for-profit noble cause with $ 2 million, to acheive what they are aiming for.

This venture features over 2,600 videos ranging from arithmetic to physics, finance, and history and 218 practice exercises, and this is just the beginning. When asked about the future of this venture, Sal explained that he wants to touch every possible topic of any subject available, be it history , astronomy, basic English grammar or Biology.

Firm believer of “sky is the limit” is not language bound either because along with the support of his brilliant team, this evangelist for Educational Revolution is working towards making his lessons available in every possible language known to existent.

The best part about his lessons is the simplicity with which he translates a convoluted concept, which is comprehensible to perfection to the weakest of the students. The lessons are brief, which is up to ten minutes, assures that that the attention span of the student is not deviated at all. The popularity of this cause has hiked up so much that it is now also available as an iphone application.

This is one of the biggest step towards revolutionising the educational sector, by providing students school, just finger tips away, where everyone may learn at their own pace.
