In a formal interview with the Pakistani folk legend, Abida Perveen, the Ghazal queen has expressed her interest in the Bollywood movies and Indian actors. She also bemoaned the shocking death of renowned Indian singer, Jagjit Singh.
Abida Perveen went to Delhi (India), for an event organized by Ekta Mission, where she was quizzed by the journalists on different topics. The Legendary singer recently performed at the Indra Gandhi National Centre of Arts where she mesmerized the audience with her silky voice and spell bounding performance.
The talismanic singer highlighted Delhi as her second home and mentioned the Holy places in the city. Abida insisted that she often pays visit to the shrines of Hazrat Ameer Khusru Rehmatullah Aleh and Hazrat Bakhtiyar Kaki Rehmatullah Aleh.
Speaking on her favorite most Bollywood stars, she replied: “I like Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan.
Abida went on to reveal her interest in the Bollywood movies and told the media that she recently watched the Indian movie “Dabangg”. She further explained that she do not prefer to watch movies in the cinemas but admitted her love to follow the Indian soaps and movies on television.
Jagjit Singh, who won the Padma Bhushan award for his services from the Indian government, passed away on 23 September in a local hospital based in Bombay. The legendary singer was suffering from Brain hemorrhage.
Speaking on the tragic death of the Indian Ghazal mystro, she expressed her grief and labeled it as a great loss for the entire industry.
“I was at the Delhi airport when I heard the news of his demise. Not just in India, people everywhere were deeply upset with this news. We’ve lost a creditable name and this place can’t be taken by anyone. His ghazals always conveyed a message which touched the hearts of listeners.” Abida was quoted as saying
The Sufi legend shared an exciting feedback from a fan on a social networking website:
“A lady told me that she was severely unwell, but listening to my cassette gave her the strength to come for my concert”
Abida, who won the Pride of Performance award from the President of Pakistan, thanked Almighty Allah for providing her with all the respect and assured the millions fans of providing excellent numbers till her last breath.
