Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) is all set to organize a huge procession at the Minar e Pakistan on the 30th of October, 2011. The main slogan of this grand address of Imran Khan is “Hakoomat Hatao, Mulk Bachao”, which means to throw away the government and save the country.
The government requested PTI and Pakistan Muslim League (N) to postpone their rallies and protests against the government of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in respect of the death of Nusrat Bhutto, the wife of the late founder of PPP, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. However, both the opposition parties have refused to do so as they are of the opinion that the people of Pakistan must remove this government, if the country is to prosper.
There is no doubt about the fact that change is the need of the hour for the people of Pakistan as no government could have done worse than the present one. The people of Pakistan have witnessed immense inflation, economic downfall, unbearable energy crisis, height of corruption and ever increasing terrorism.
The present government of Yousuf Raza Gillani has miserably failed to do anything for the betterment of the masses of the country. In fact, they have made the situation even worse, as compared to the one, when they formed the government in 2008.
These rallies and processions by PTI and PML (N) are also a battle in itself as both the parties are trying to prove their popularity in the capital of Punjab, Lahore. It is a proven fact that the politics of Lahore has a huge influence on the national scene and all the major political parties have tried to capture the fort of Lahore, since the birth of Pakistan.
Over the years, PML (N) has controlled Lahore and emerged as the biggest political force in the city. However, there is no doubt about the fact that the Chairman of PTI, Imran Khan has gained immense popularity in the youth of the urban areas of the country and a huge portion of the youngsters believe that former captain of Pakistan cricket team is the only ray of hope for the country to have a bright future.
PML (N)’s rally is on the 28th of October at the Nasir Bagh Lahore. By the end of the month, we will surely come to know that Imran Khan holds the edge in Lahore or is it still Nawaz Shareef, who has a strong grip on Lahore, which is considered as the heart of Pakistan.
