A seminar was held recently that marked the 60th anniversary of the initiation of diplomatic regions between the two strategic neighbors of the sub continent, Pakistan and China. The celebration was conducted at the a front line Chinese think tank by the name of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs.
In order to celebrate the occasion, the CPIFA had called upon several retired ambassadors of Pakistan that belonged to the Islamabad Council of World Affairs. These were not the only participants of the ceremony, rather, past ambassadors from China also made their presence felt. Other than that, Chinese diplomats were also invited to grace the occasion. The CPIFA was not the only Chinese think tank that had its participation in the event, other think tanks as well as academics and scholars also came to the occasion.
The event started off with the Masood Khan, who is the Pakistani ambassador to China, making the opening remarks. The proceedings went forth as the speakers from both China as well as Pakistan expressed their views about the relations between the two countries and the dynamics that govern them. Not only that, the speakers also talked about the positive steps that the two nations have taken up till this point to make the bi lateral relationship stronger.
After having a close look at the past and analysing both the positive as well as the negative points of the relationship, the speakers turned their minds towards the future to predict the flow of affairs in the years to come. Speakers from both the sides firmly agreed that stronger and friendlier bi lateral relations between the two sides would benefit both the nations. Such a relationship between the two countries would provide the means to Pakistan as well as China to face global as well as regional challenges.
The event ended on a successful and pleasing note that opened horizons for the future and paved the way for a stronger relationship between the two nations. Lu Shumin, the Vice President of CPIFA expressed his views on the relationship of the two nations in the following words: “distant journeys and long tasks reveal one’s true character”.
The whole proceeding was chaired by the Secretary General CPIFA, Huang Xinyuan.
