Dengue fever swallowed five more people in Lahore

Lahore, October 27: Dengue fever has swallowed five more people, which made the total number of causalities to 306. In the last 24 hours, 250 people have also been identified as suffered by Dengue fever.

Among the victims included Waseem from Chah Miran, Hafeez-ur-Rehman from Shadbagh, Mubeen Qasim from Rehmanpura, Inayatullah and Faisal. These people died in different hospitals of the city in the last 24 hours.

Besides Lahore, the number of patients suffered from Dengue fever is increasing rapidly in the whole province of Punjab. With every passing day, hundreds of people are found catching up this fatal disease which is causing deaths on daily basis.

Professor Tahir Masood, the Dean of Institute of Child Health at Children Hospital expressed his views to media by saying that only government cannot stop this disease as it also requires the cooperation of the community or society. Both, government and
community can minimise the death toll which has increased to an alarming number.

He also emphasized that the large scaled efforts are required to stop this fatal disease in the next season.

The doctors in all hospitals of the city are dealing with this disease with their maximum abilities and the help of the Sri Lankan doctors cannot be denied in this regard. They have vast experience of dealing with the Dengue fever and are helping the doctors
to treat the patients effectively.

Dr. Tahir also revealed that more than 110 children, who were in Children Hospital, have been saved from this fatal disease and only one death has been reported so far.

Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore, the Medical Director at Children Hospital, said that with the assistance of the Sri Lankan doctors, many useful guidelines have been prepared and these guidelines are also being utilised in the whole province of Punjab.

Professor Tariq Salahuddin informed media that in the last two months, more than 6000 patients have been discharged from the General Hospital of Lahore. He also appreciated the Health Education Programme, which was introduced by the General Hospital. This
programme has produces fruitful outcome so far in treating the Dengue patients.
