Revolution: A thought for the aggravated mind

There is no doubt that we need a revolution. It seems like this revolution will be initiated by the poor and mediocre (majority) of the population, which is already in the process of mobilisation thanks to the freedom and totally
critical stance of the electronic media.
However, the BIG question is who will lead this revolution and are there any guarantees that it will actually work?
Well, our people have become complacent, we’ve lost our values and culture, morality has become an unusual concept, while, our youth is worried only about western clothes, music, norms, money, degrees and cars.
It is sad to know that the happiest people in Pakistan are now thieves and crooks! All honest and decent people want nothing to do with this Country anymore – that is how hopeless the scenario has become.
Democracy seems to be the most harmful form of government because it has failed us time and again. It is just a licence for our leaders with fake degrees and an impressive criminal record to loot government funds and become puppets
of the west.
Our illiterate public keeps voting for their own beloved political parties because everyone gets to fill their bellies right down to the Union Council level representatives. Mean while, the international community does not accept
the rules of the Army and religious parties have also failed us since they didn’t prove to be any different!
Moreover, Jihadist and hardcore Islamists seem to have no better alternative than suicide bombing! Our hidden and obvious enemies are promoting and supporting all of the above because they won’t have to waste hundreds of lives,
billions of dollars and face international backlash if they destroy us through an all out military attack.
If I was an enemy of this country, I would leave Pakistan to its fate. Why worry about Pakistan when we’re devastating our country with our own hands? All our enemies need to ensure is that what is going on keeps going on.
However, what is most depressing is that since our nation has degraded beyond belief as a society, even a revolution would prove useless at the end of the day. I strongly believe that it is not just our leaders hat have to be blamed,
it is the entire nation that has to be blamed.
Are we ourselves not corrupt and immoral in so many ways? After all, where do our leaders come from?? They’re our own brothers, relatives, friends and fellow Pakistanis. I guarantee you that if you give power and authority to any
one of us today; we will probably end just like the people we’re cursing.
This country was created after a bloody revolution. So why do we need another one now?? We must ask ourselves this question. I am sure that even a future revolution will result in the same state of affairs after the next 50 odd
years if we don’t get our act together especially as Muslims and generally as responsible human beings.
In my humble opinion, the revolution has to take place at our homes and in the way we bring up our children. What do you expect when an entire generation is brought up with the sole objective of producing successful money-making
machines – no matter what the means are!
There is one other short-cut – HANG THE CULPRITS! All of them and that too in public! However, that is just wishful thinking and very unlikely to happen.
The minute our criminal politicians and bureaucrats even get a whiff of such a revolution, they will be sitting in Dubai and UK before we can even lay hands on them. Well, we could do what Parvez Musharraf did with Nawaz Sharif,
something worth a shot but no one except the Army can do something like that to all our beloved leaders and the Army will never do this because a sane government will only reduce the Army’s influence on the country’s governance.
Let’s assume if the revolution sets out to kill anyone who is corrupt, then we’ll all lose many friends and relatives and some of us will commit suicide as we won’t be able to bear all this.
So let’s see who comes up with the best idea for a revolution, the means to change this nation’s character over a few nights and still avoid a foreign attack – too much to hope for!
What our people must change, is from the ground up – we must start with changing our own selves, our families and friends and the rest should be left to Allah. As only He can change the fate of the nation, we can barely succeed
at changing our own selves.
