Are political rallies a solution to public sufferings?

The entire provincial metropolis is awash with banners and posters that contain alluring slogans of ‘change’ and ‘revolution’—-the words that actually do not suit to our nation—-for the salvation of the oppressed  and browbeaten Pakistanis. Every ‘leader’
is calling his worshipers to come on roads and ‘save Pakistan’. But the point worth pondering is that do all these campaigns have anything positive for us? The answer is NO as the whole mess is about nothing except road blockades, time waste and high risk
to the lives of the poor but silly disciples who rush with just one call of their tyrant bosses.

Every so-called leader from the pop singer, Abrar-ul-Haq, to the former cricketer, Imran Khan, to the fugitive rulers, Sharif group, is striving to register his presence ahead of the next general elections that, according to every sane Pakistani, are not
likely to make any difference in the erroneous system.

Do these leaders—-however, there is no leader at all, all are merchant selling themselves in the market of foolish buyers—-ever dare to think that their gatherings render a large number of traffickers motionless on roads for hours, kill some patients
in jammed ambulances, hamper the bread winning activities of the inflation-marred people and most of all pose a potential threat to the lives of the participants. If some terrorist act takes place in a rally, who will be responsible for deaths of the innocent
fools? Certainly, no one!

Believe me, it is not the way to bring change. It is an era of information and communication technologies. Just go to a TV channel and address, your voice will spread like wildfire in every nook and corner of the country. Upload a statement on Facebook and
it will reach hundreds of thousands of people in twinkling on an eye. Then, what is the need to waste time and resources via rallies except showing strength and putting pressure on opponents.

At least, Khan should not do this as he seems to be somewhat sensible person at the moment. He must use social and mainstream media to garner the support of the educated youth which is desperately waiting for a fair leader to overturn the stupendous set
up.

The guys like Khan and Abrar should not waste their time in these gruesome activities. They need to directly penetrate in the youth circles and go ahead for change with pure intentions and clear minds. It will be better if both of them get united. First,
they must formulate an agenda and then guide the young blood meticulously to accomplish the goal of change.

One thing more, these emerging ‘leaders’ should campaign their mission, if there is any, without temptation of winning the elections and making inroads to the parliament, but for long-term revolution which may give food and freedom to the nation.

I say once again the main target of the new ‘politicians’ must be the youth, but they should avoid to misuse this precocious asset for heinous interests as it had been happening in the past. Only constructive, clean and interest-free politics can put foundation
of change. Electioneering in Pakistan is the second name of exploitation.
