Sushil Kumar makes history: Wins 5 crores in Kaun Banega Crorepati 5

Indian version of “Who wants to be a millionaire” has changed lives of several people coming from humble backgrounds since it was first introduced in 2000.

Hosted by Bollywood’s folklore Amitabh Bacchan, Kon Banega Crorepati or commonly referred to as KBC, is followed by millions in Asia. First season of the show was a massive success however due to unknown reasons, show was shut down.

It was restarted in 2005 with the maximum prize increased from $1 to $ 2 million this time encouraging more people to audition and the fame skyrocketed even more. KBC faced a major setback when unfortunately in the middle of the season, Amitabh got exorbitantly
sick and the show was called off immediately.

Shahrukh Khan replaced Amitabh and it was expected that Shahrukh will take the fame to new heights however all the hype that was created dissipated as surprisingly, the TRP of show went down noticeably. After Amitabh recovered fully, he was again offered
to host the show which he accepted.

KBC since then is a success story and viewership in increasing every year.

There is a jackpot question for $ 5 million which no contender has ever able to win to date. But history was made just a few days ago when Sushil Kumar, a computer operator and a tutor by profession belonging to humblest of backgrounds won the mega prize
of $ 5 million.

This to date is the grandest wins in Indian history. This victory led to extreme celebrations on the set of the show. From people in the crowd to crew members of the show, everyone were overjoyed with Sushil winning the mega prize. Amitabh himself was jubilant
and expressed his delight later after the show posting on his blog

“What a sensational day in the studios of ‘KBC’! A young man from the interiors of Bihar, earning a meager salary of just INR6,500 per month, coming from the most humblest of backgrounds, reaches the hot seat and cracks the ultimate prize — INR50 million!
An incredible feat”

There was complete silence in the crowd when Sushil was about to answer the last question for the mega prize but when he answered, the atmosphere changed abruptly. Everyone in the crowd gave him a standing ovation and was cheering for Sushil at the top of
their lungs.

Sushil’s family members unable to control their emotions ran to the stage with tears of joy in their eyes. KBC witnessed the loudest of cheers in its 11 years history according to Amitabh Bachan.

This win will motivate million others poverty struck people of India to take part in KBC and the fame of the show will definitely be boosted in the coming years.
