Lahore – It will not be wrong to say that the long and outstanding unemployment problem is causing a chaos in Pakistan. Since coming into force, the federal government has not been able to come up with the right plan to create
enough employment opportunities in the country.
Every year, thousands of students are achieving their graduate or post graduate degrees from reputable universities. However, considering the state of job market in Pakistan, it will be safe to say that many of them will only get
frustrated after applying for hundreds of jobs and not getting any sort of response.
The industrial and engineering sector of Pakistan has been hit hard by the unemployment and professional disorder in the country. Electricity and energy shortfall are the main causes of continuous turmoil. Many of the professional
and educated community have already begun to believe that their futures are very insecure in the ever increasing unsafe environment.
Many of the process/manufacturing companies in Pakistan have started to shift their business from Pakistan to more reliable and safe places such as UAE, Bangladesh. Students have engineering have suffered the most due to lack of
investment in the engineering and industrial sector Pakistan. Recently a couple of production facilities were closed down in the area of Jal Magzi, which left hundreds of people jobless.
Similarly business in oil and gas design and engineering sector are also struggling to run a company in times of great uncertainty. Shell and Total and even Pakistan Railways have sacked number of its employees to cope with the
challenges of energy crisis. Employers that are still willing to increase their human resources have failed to provide their staff with enough benefits to survive with inflation at its highest rate.
If the federal government does not come up with a decent policy, many of the remaining companies will shut down its operations in Pakistan, leaving hundreds of professionals jobless. However, we must not lose our hope as at times,
nations are tested how determined they are.
