210 m the expected count of Pakistanis in 2020
According to the official statistics that have recently been revealed, the projected population of Pakistan is expected to touch the figure of 210 million by the year 2020.
This is an alarming increase that is projected to burden the Pakistani soil in a relatively short period of nine years. The increased population is going to stretch the limits of the country as well as its resources which are already scarce. According to
the statistics, year 2020 will present a tough challenge for the Pakistani people if adequate and timely measures are not made in order to check the situation and reduce the projected increase.
As previously stated by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the population of the world has touched and crossed the 7 billion mark today. Despite the fact that the average number of children per the women of the world have shown a decline, the marginal
increase in world population will continue to take place at least as far as the middle of the 21st century.
The population growth of Pakistan has experienced a deceleration however, that fact does not stop it from becoming one of the countries with the largest population growth rate in the world. The estimate that was made on the country’s population by the year
2011 was 177.1 million. This figure shows a 2.1 per cent increase than the population prevalent in the country last year.
Apart from trying to reduce if not stop the escalating population growth rate of the country, there is a dire need to take measures that would provide the back up plans for dealing with an increased amount of people on Pakistani soil.
Some of the most apparent problems include food and housing. Being an agricultural country, Pakistan has still not realized its true potential and worked at its best to provide for its ever increasing population. Other than that, basic health services as
well as education are other important issues. A country that is already besieged with social as well as economic problems, it will be a huge task to cater to the increasing number of Pakistanis.
