Veteran Hollywood actress, Doris Day, has been honoured by the life time achievement award by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA).
Doris Day, who acclaimed Golden Globe award for life time achievement previously, has now handed another award for her services in the industry.
A talismanic actress and a singer, she was arguably one of the most iconic stars of the nineteenth century. It has been thirty years since she has left the showbiz, still the world acclaim her as one of the finest actress of 1960’s.
Day found music at her door steps as her father was a musician by profession. She started learning with Les Brown Big Band Orchestra. There is little arguing the statement, she has recorded over 600 songs.
After singing with a host of bands, she recorded five songs for a Hollywood movie “Romance on the High Seas” in which she also worked as a junior star. Her songs were admired by the audience and after a flying start to his professional
career she went on to capture more fans with her spell bounding voice.
Speaking on her favourite movie, the America’s sweetheart had replied:
“Calamity Jane was probably my favourite movie because that’s the real me. When I was a little girl I’d stumble. I loved climbing trees and you know skating and doing all the things that the boys did. Yet I loved dolls."
Doris has not limited herself to singing and acting only, she started her own show named “The Doris Day Show”. The television show proved out to be a big hit which lasted for five seasons.
Besides her television work, she found “Doris Day Animal Foundation”, Day worked as an advocate for the Animal rights.
LAFCA president, Brent Simon, could not hold himself praising the charming and the beautiful actress and said:
"Doris Day is still arguably the template to which Hollywood turns when trying to quantify and capture ‘girl next door’ appeal."
Her last album “My Heart” came last month, after seventeen years of her absence, which entered the UK chart at number nine and included nine tracks of her late son ‘Terry Melcher’.
