Pakistani Society: The uncensored truth (Part 1)

There is something seriously wrong with the society that we live in today. The more you try to understand it, the more confused you get. Norms have been formed and boundaries have been defined and yet there is hardly anything that seems in place or makes
sense. Standards have been set and yet there is anyone who knows where or how these benchmarks came into place.
Where on earth is it written that having a couple of Honda Civics in your garage makes you better than a person with a Honda CD 70? What has put people under the false impression that wearing designer clothes makes them look any better than others? Who declared
a firm grasp on the English language as an essence of modernism and sophistication? How is living in a huge house any better than living in a house that may not be huge in size, but serves its purpose of putting a roof over a person’s head? When did carrying
the latest cell-phone in one’s pocket start being a necessity instead of a luxury? From where and why are the females gaining more confidence to shed their inhibitions and wear clothes that are unquestionably inappropriate in a society where perverted predators
are on the loose?
There are just too many questions that need to be answered, but in the end, one would only be wasting his breath as there is little chance of getting a reasonable answer. While many believe that man is becoming more intelligent with every passing day, the
truth seems to be on the contrary, with the people falling deeper into ignorance. Let us embark on a long and disturbing journey to take at the various aspects of our society and become familiar with the evils that define it.
Our inquisitive minds are being suppressed by the status quo society, where anyone who dares to raise a question or exhibits uniqueness is ridiculed and shunned. If a person refuses to go with the flow, he gets drowned, though not before half the society
spits on him. Everyone is born an original, but after a few years down the road, they simply end up becoming copies.
These copies often try to compete with each other by wearing labels, speaking English in an accent that remotely resembles that of an American or British native, showing off their popularity through their Facebook friend list, number of hours they spend
on their cell-phone, size of the group of friends they hang out with or places they visit to eat food where the selection criteria is based more on the price of the food and gentry in attendance instead of the quality of food on offer. However, the general
makeup of these individuals is pretty much the same and they all seem to have the same chip planted in their minds. Originality is compromised for acceptance and the sole purpose of life is restricted to gaining and maintaining of one’s status.
