The World reaches seven billions – October 31, a “Symbolic” date
Monday, October 31st, 2011 6:39:59 by Muhammad SherazOnly a dozen years after, the world added another billion in the growth the population on the planet, reaching 7 billion on October 31, 2011.
According to United Nations projection, the demographer called October 31, 2011, the "symbolic" day to hit the world 7 billion while recognizing that it is impossible to know with certainty the exact date or day.
None of the methods, demographers believe that humanity is still a steep growth curve, which is likely to keep rising for the rest of this century. Best estimate of the United Nations is that the population would exceed 10.1 billion by the end of the century.
It is expected that the projected growth will come about in developing nations of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Europe, North America and other rich industrial countries will stay relatively at par during this century. There are also some countries, like
Germany, Russia and Japan who are maintaining themselves to edge down their population growth.
The accumulation to Monday’s milestone has briefly raised the blaze of a long lasting debate in finite planet growth: Whether a rising population and increased spending is still the greatest ecological challenge of how best to contribute to a billion people
from poverty and misery? Whether the government should resolve the issue for those, who cannot afford it?
An obstetrician-gynecologist of Nigeria and the new leader of the United Nations Population Fund, Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin vigilantly stepped into the fray of population growth. He wrote in the annual State of World Population report, “"Instead of asking
questions like, ‘Are we too many?’ we should instead be asking, ‘What can I do to make our world better?’ "
Osotimehin further said, "In many parts of the developing world, where population growth is outpacing economic growth, the need for reproductive health services, especially family planning, remains great."
In his report, he Osotimehin also chronicled the inequalities between rich nations and the poor ones. Poor countries are those who carry on having the low education levels and astonishingly high levels of pregnancy in teenage and also the high rates of maternal
and child deaths due to complications in the childbirth.
It is not supposed yet that how U.N. Population Division will manage the next milestone in the Population Growth. It is estimated as well that Glob’s population will hit next billion in about 14 years.
