Coalition with PLM (N) and its repercussion on Imran Khan’s politics
Tuesday, November 1st, 2011 9:01:58 by Sharjeel AhmadThe Pakistani youngsters, who enthusiastically rubbed shoulders with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief, Imran Khan here at Iqbal Park, Lahore on Sunday, are now confused to make difference between two words i.e., Change and politics
after Khan’s recent statement that he can think of forming a coalition with the Pakistan Muslim League (N), the former PML’s break-away faction which the silly voters have tried for at least four times so far.
It will not be illogical to say here that our youth is sick of the conventional and tradition politics and political parties of Pakistan as they have exploited and oppressed the nation vehemently over the years. The dynastic politics
have given us ignorant, dishonest and corrupt leaders who do nothing except filling their foreign bank accounts. The result is absolute disarray.
Now, the people and especially the young ones who form at least 65 percent of our population, are desperately waiting and working for change which, all believe, only Khan can bring if his party is mandated to sit in the Parliament.
The overwhelming crowds of October 30 were manifestations of the Public’s rebellious sentiments. But Khan’s flexibility towards the incumbent Punjab rulers have paused the entire passion for a while as most of the PTI’s supporters think that coalition with
any one of the traditional political parties will be tantamount to political suicide for their ideal leader.
It will be erroneous to deny the possibility that khan may not be able to execute his revolutionary agenda freely by sitting on the treasury benches along with the Sharif group. He will have to follow at least some of the policies
of mainstream party which contains a number of black sheep. Furthermore, it is a natural rule that a small fish cannot swim in a pool independently in the presence of many big fishes and even crocodiles.
I would like to suggest at the moment that if Khan really wants to bring long-term change in the country, he will have to stay away from the conventional politics of Pakistan. This is the only way he can win the hearts and minds of
frustrated public which hate every Nawaz, every Zardari, every Chaudry, every Altaf and every Fazal as they have given them nothing except suicide bombs, breath-taking inflation, and sheer lawlessness.
No problem if Khan has to wait for twenty years or more to set up an independent government, he should not be haphazard to join hands with any of the political pundits. The rapidly rising leader should work to garner the youth support
on the agenda of change, not for merely winning elections and stepping into the parliament. It is not confirmed that he will be able to clean the mess by becoming a head of the government.
Actual change starts from within. He must guide every one of his supporters to change him/herself first, to be fair with the country and to work hard for progress. Believe me, if at least half of his fans turn to be responsible citizens,
Pakistan will start marching towards a huge change that may envelop the whole nation within a few years. And as the prospective depict, this entire process will not take a long time. The more Khan shows fair play to the youth, the quicker he will rise to eternal
power.
