The Beggar Epidemic in Pakistan

As much as drivers in America are afraid of an outbreak of zombies as they drive down their carpeted roads, such is the situation with Pakistani drivers, but instead of fearing the living dead, we must save ourselves from the onslaught of beggars, which
is bound to hit us at every red light we stop at.
Not only on the roads, but walking in a park or stopping at an open air restaurant with friends and family attracts the attention of the money hungry people, which like zombies, want to suck the blood right out of us but in an indirect manner.
The problem with beggars is that most of them make a decent living and will not work, even if offered the opportunity, due to the comfortable lifestyle they have adopted by spreading out their hands and hitting different people with the same dialogue over
and over again.
Poverty is something which should never be made fun of and in this discussion, we are not talking about genuine poverty but rather the cosmetic/artificial poverty which is shown by those who are actually more well off in comparison to a labourer or even
an intellect with a bachelor’s degree in hand.
Those hardworking “mazdoor’s” which hardly earn Rs.200-500 after working throughout the day and return home with barely anything to feed their families, beggars enjoy the facility of smoking cigarettes while begging and at many times, counting money on the
job while asking for more.
It is certainly a disheartening scene to see people who are physically healthy in all regards, still begging while making up excuses which they always support by some medical certificate, like really, how hard is it to make a fake document in Pakistan?
For those living hand-to-mouth and barely surviving, we as the people of Pakistan earning with the ability to share, should accommodate those who would rather keep their self-respect intact rather than those who are not ashamed of anything at all.
Giving to the beggars is something which reminds of a sign which is found in zoo in front of the animals cage saying, “Do Not Feed the Animals”, which is entirely true in this situation as well. The more you give, the more they will want.
Nowadays, the beggar community has raised the bar of how much money they are willing to take from every potential customer based on how he looks, what car he is driving and how much money he could be carrying with him.
If a car driver gives them a few coins, most beggars are ready to throw them back at the guys face and even if they keep it, the transaction does not finish without a few “badua’s”.
Some beggars even go to the extent of asking for a month’s worth of food or even money in the range of thousands of rupees, which in every regard is outrageous.
Money earned without hard work is never appreciated for, which is certainly a case with these fake beggars who have taken over our streets.
