World’s most famous video sharing website, YouTube, announced that they will be adding about 100 channels of original programming to the globally popular online venue for video sharing.
The initiative taken by the Google-owned website is quite impressive.

The site is initially dealing with celebrity partners such as pop music star Madonna and actor Ashton Kutcher for their original content to be shared on their pages.

Robert Kyncl, YouTube’s global head of content partnerships, said in a blog post, “Even more talented creators and original entertainment will soon join YouTube’s existing channel line-up.
Including channels created by well-known personalities and content producers from the TV, film, music, news, and sports fields, as well as some of the most innovative up-and-coming media companies in the world.”

According to some reports, Google has laid out more than $100 million to establish these partnerships, The California technology titan tries to become a preferred source of content for
Internet-linked televisions for this purpose.

Kyncl added, “These channels will have something for everyone, whether you’re a mom, a comedy fan, a sports nut, a music lover or a pop-culture maven.”

YouTube will launch the first of these original channels on the site next month and more content will be added through the coming year. Currently, Google is trying to breathe new life
into its moribund Internet television platform and the initiative of the original content channels is a part of the process.

Last Friday, Google unveiled its second-generation Google TV software that improved search, simplified controls, slicker integration with video-sharing service YouTube and the option to
add applications made by outside developers.

Google TV team’s Chris Dale of spoke, “In the grander scheme, it is another step on a long road. We are committed to the product and making it better.”

Google TV was launched last year by the California Internet titan and is powered by Android software and Chrome Web browser. It can also be accessed using Sony TVs or set-top boxes from
Logitech that route Web content to existing television sets. Sony and Logitech had to slash prices on Google TV offerings after facing disappointing sales.

The updated version of Google TV software will begin rolling out next week and will make it easier and more intuitive for viewers to find online video.
