Dream Theater’s new album rocking charts worldwide!

Dream Theater, an American Progressive Metal band, released their new studio album A Dramatic Turn of Events on September 13 through Roadrunner Records. The album sold more than 40,000 copies in the opening week to land eighth in the Billboard 200 Chart.

Apart from Australian Album Chart and UK Albums Chart, the Dream Theater’s 11^th studio album landed in the top ten positions of Canadian Albums Chart, Dutch Albums Chart, Finish Albums Chart, Hungarian Albums Chart, Polish Albums Chart, Portuguese
Albums Chart, UK Rock Chart, Billboard 200 US Chart, Italian Albums Chart and Billboard Tastemaker Chart.

A Dramatic Turn of Events received positive reviews by music critiques all around the world. Rich Wilson, who wrote the first album review, called the album “Fresh and frankly stunning”. Sea of Tranquillity reviewer, Murat Batmaz, praised the album and highlighted
Jordan Rudess, Keyboard, Continuum and MorphWiz player, role in the melodic compositions.

Prior to the release in July, the album was voted Roadrunner Records’ most anticipated album of 2011’s fourth quarter, beating Opeth, Machine Head and Megadeth. Some critics even vote the album the most awaited album of Dream Theater’s career.

A Dramatic Turn of Events consists of nine tracks with the total length of 77:05 minutes. The album is the first recording to feature new drummer, Mike Mangini, following the departure of Mike Portnoy in September 2010. Moreover, it is the first album to
feature lyrics by John Myung, bassist, since Fatal Tragedy from Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory.

On the Backs of Angels is the opening track of the new album, which was released earlier this year in June. The song did not receive high appreciation from the Dream Theater’s fans due to its calm drumming. However, after the release of the album, it seems
evident that the band has managed gratify their fans.

When Portnoy left the band due to personal reasons including better relationships in his other projects, the general perception was that the American Progressive Metal Band would fail to live up to the fans expectations. However, the band has yet again proven
their pedigree and proved many wrongs by producing another masterpiece.
