Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011 7:11:53 by sara.anwarMyrtle Beach International Airport has installed a new body scanning technology, which was open for public use on Tuesday, November 1.
The body screening machine will be much quicker than the conventional lengthy thorough pat-down check-up session which consumes a lot of time. This technology will not only spare the passengers of lengthy check-ups but will also help ruling out all possibility
of having human errors.
For now passengers have a choice at bay, i.e. whether they go through the conventional security check up routine or to get the full body scanned. It is entirely up to the passengers, which of the two options they wish to take up.
While commenting about the recently installed units at Myrtle Beach, a passenger, Andrew Curtis, said, "It’s quicker than the personal one-to-one pat downs and all of that stuff. They get a quick instant image of what they’re dealing with and you can just
mosey on your way."
This advanced technology will not only write off the hassle of thorough check -up routines at airport that will save time but it goes a notch up, as it will also indentify the non-metallic material that may be hidden beneath clothes.
Myrtle Beach International is one of the 29 selected airports across United States that has the Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) scanners installed. It was explained by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) that there were a couple of factors
that played a part in sifting out those airports which were ready for the installation.
Officials at the TSA shared that they looked into the airport readiness and passenger load, to determine which ports needed the installation units.
