Over the course of the last few years, football has skyrocketed to become the most popular sport in the world.
Almost every single country has a number of football teams, which hope to be amongst the best in the world.
The case is no different in Pakistan. The country is flooded with football fanatics and mediocre players just looking to get their opportunity to prove their worth on the grandest of stages.
However, given the set-up, which is currently running the show in the country, it is close to impossible for these players to get noticed by the top clubs in the world.
One of the prime reasons for this is the poor youth system that is running in the country and the fact that the Pakistani football association would rather opt to see their top players keep playing in Pakistan, instead of making a name for themselves on
the international stage.
At the same time, should the football association opt to try and develop a better system, which sees young players get the opportunity to be scouted by clubs from Europe. Not only would this see the players really push themselves and produce some of the
best football the country has ever seen.
Once these young players get recruited by international clubs, they can come back and dramatically help the national team, as it looks to qualify for the FIFA world cup for a change.
In order for the football association to stand any chance of working on such a programme they really need to get rid of the corruption that is over throwing the system. Not only does this prevent talented players from making a move into semi-professional/
professional levels of the game, but it really casts a negative shadow over the general image of the football played in the country.
