Tower Heist: Coming soon in theatres near you

Tower Heist is an upcoming comedy movie involving a robbery by a group of unprofessional thieves who tends to take their money back from a corrupt Wall Street businessman who stiffed them. Directed by Brett Ratner, the man who brought X-Men Rise of the Phoenix,
this upcoming adventure will hit worldwide on 4th of November, 2011.

When a group of loyal employees of a Columbus Circle high-rise finds themselves bankrupt after finding out they’ve fallen victims to a Ponzi scheme by a Wall Street businessman Arthur Shaw, played by Alan Alda. The loyal staff members include Josh (starred
by Ben Stiller), Charlie (Casey Affleck), Dev’reaux (Michael Pena) and Odessa. They seek help by a petty crook, Slide (starred by Eddie Murphy), and a bankrupt businessman, Mr. Fitzhugh (Mather Broderick) to plot the ultimate revenge. They break into Shah’s
apartment to steal back their money, along with sneaking past a special agent, Claire Denham (Tea Leoni).

Despite being a comedy movie, it portrays crime as being justified in some circumstances. Also parents should be aware of the comedic violence and strong language included in it.

Tower Heist began in development since 2005 based on Murphy’s idea of casting an all black cast of comedians as a heist group who rob Trump Plaza. Murphy would also star in it but as the script developed and changed into an Ocean’s Eleven style, he left
the project. Ratner continued developing this idea until it became Tower Heist, with Murphy later rejoining the project.

The movie was involved in a controversy prior to its release. Universal Studios was planning to release the film for home viewing on video on demand to 500,000 Comcast customers after three weeks of its theatrical debut. This would directly affect ticket
sales and so many cinemas declared to boycott the showing of the movie if this plan went ahead.

Regardless of an all star cast, Tower Heist faced poor reviews by the critics. From a survey taken by rotten tomatoes, 79 percent of fourteen critics gave an average rating of 5.5 out of ten.

The Daily Telegraph however gave comparatively better reviews. It called the film "a tolerably enjoyable Brett Ratner movie," and labelled it" brash, forgettable fun – no
Ocean’s 11, but a darn sight better than Ocean’s 12."

Overall it’s worth a shot to pass your time and to have some laughs with your friends.
