Mohammad Bin Qasim – A romance of the history – Part Two

Continued from the previous part …

The young militant proved to be old in experience and skill. He marched towards Sind from Siraj and Makran. On his way, Qasim found support from the Governor of Makran, who happened to be a friend of Hajjaj. Governor of Makran sent his forces
along with the young general for the cause of Islam.

The Muslims forces reached Sind and defeated the Brahmins at Daybal. They further conquered Nirun, Sehwan and some other parts of Sind before getting some very tough resistance at the fort of Rawar, where the Hindus along with Raja Dahir
had gathered to cope with the Muslim forces. Although, the Hindu forces were fully prepared, they were yet defeated by Mohammad Bin Qasim and his forces.

The Muslims used much superior weapons as compared to the Hindus and this was one of the many reasons behind Mohammad Bin Qasim’s success, who proved to be a competent soldier and a brilliant administrator and strategist. A weapon ‘Manjaneeq’
was used in the battle, which was like modern cannon and approximately 500 soldiers were required to operate it.

Dahir was killed during the battle, which demoralized the Hindu forces, who ran away after their emperor’s death. Upon hearing the demise of her husband, Dahir’s wife committed suicide.

The Muslims forces took control of the fort and laid down new administration in the captured areas. Qasim moved forward and captured some areas of Punjab as well including Multan.

The low caste Hindus were not in a good state on the eve of the Arab invasion of Sind. The Hindu society was caste-ridden and class-driven. This is the reason why, Jats, Meds and some other low caste Hindus welcomed the Muslims in their
area. A new system of social justice was introduced by Qasim, which based on the teachings of equality of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), who had brought the greatest revolution this earth has ever witnessed, in the previous century, and converted the ease-loving
Arabs into the rulers of almost half the world, through the principles of morality.

Muslim culture was introduced in Sind and Arabic was made the official language. Muslims brought camels and date-palms to Sind, which can be witnessed even today. The sense of equality and the spirit of brotherhood amongst the Muslims really
impressed the low caste Hindus, who converted to Islam in huge numbers.

This victory was a proof that the Muslims were much more competent in the battle-field as compared to the Hindus or any other force in the world at that time. The spirit of ‘Jihad’ was at its peak during that time and played a huge role
in the success of the Muslim forces all around the world.

To be continued in the next part …
