Denying right of education to servant children: A demonstration of savagery
Thursday, November 3rd, 2011 8:58:46 by Sharjeel AhmadWalking alongside a city road early morning, you will see a number of ‘servant children’, aged between 10 to 12, carrying heavy school bags of their age fellow masters and going to drop them to their alma maters. The gruesome thing to note is that these
by-birth servants see off their life owners on school gates and return ‘homes’ desperately and disappointedly to attend to abundant of nerve-shattering duties that they are supposed to perform round the clock.
What a hell this is! These unfortunate children, despite being equal to those of their masters in terms of humanity, are not allowed to even enter an educational institute and see how their fellows learn the ‘lessons’ of a ‘civilized’ life. Are they not
human beings? Do they not possess healthy minds? What is their imperfection except this that they have been sent by God to marginalised and moneyless families of this world? So pity!
Have we ever bothered about this inhuman and oppressive social trend? Certainly not. Then what about the religion we belong to proudly? Are we practicing the same Code of Life whose founder taught us to give to our servants the same food, clothing and rights
which we love to have? Set religion aside for a minute, we are not event doing fair with the titles like ‘Rational Beings’ and ‘Super Creatures’. What is the difference between us and the animals which attack, kill and eat their brothers and sisters? Are we
not murdering these children by denying them their biggest right i.e., right to education?
By doing so, we are committing a criminal act for which, we deserve to be hanged. We are doing our best to let the age-old slavery system perpetuate forever. In this way, the coming generations of these children will also keep washing our dishes and cleaning
our toilets, because, they cannot get their destinies changed by Allah.
At this point, I would like to recall Karl Marx, the father of communism, who recommended in the mid 20th century that if a society wants to create harmony, peace and equality among its members, it should set up a Special Centre where all children
of all classes and family backgrounds may stay and study together. What will be the outcome of such a move except complete equality?
Some ‘intellectuals’ opine that it is a responsibility of our government to furnish these children with education. Well and good! For your kind information, government has a ‘Free Education For All’ system in all public schools where every child can go and
seek knowledge. Even books and uniforms are available for free. But how can servant children go there unless we permit them to do so?
For God sake, think and act like humans my dear fellows. What we are doing is merely savagery. If we want long-term peace, serenity and prosperity in our society, we will have to give these peeved people their due human rights. Except doing this, we can
never expect a society that is free from suicide bombers and street robbers.
