The ruling by London’s Southwark Crown Court in the cases of Pakistani cricketers Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir has put a lot of minds and hearts at easiness.
It is right time for those who cast away the name of country as well as fame of cricket have been met their responses.
Everyone was surprised; indeed, at their insolence and constant confidence ahead of the verdict, as they always denied whenever they were questioned in this regard. Regardless of substantial proofs, they were used to claim that they did not do anything wrong.
A consentaneous decision, on the charge of “conspiracy to cheat” and at fault by a 10-2 bulk verdict on the allegations of “conspiracy to obtain and accept corrupt payments” was accomplished to conclude sixteen-hour long consideration.
Mohammad Amir was pleaded guilty ahead of the trial run, exposed a pleasantly timed hit that the youngster let loose.
Claiming tremendous pressure and fears to his place in the team if he declined to go beside, Mohammad Amir, apparently, used his teenage, inexperience and his enthusiasm for his own benefit. To some extent, his confession of becoming guilty has helped in
the conviction of other two tainted cricketers.
Without any doubt an amateur person with little knowledge about law but having common sense will have expected such a verdict from the Britain court.
Additionally, these types of charges were chasing cricket in the country for long ago. However, the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) did not act by itself and left the job for a British journalist to reveal the perpetrators.
Since the misdeed committed by the trio was not enough to bow their heads in embarrassment, they claimed that they were not guilty. Some of the Television channels also helped these tainted cricketers in portraying them innocent who invited them as experts
during the World Cup, Eid and Morning shows.
The trio not only disappointed millions of people who had devoted their faiths on them but their nonstop obstinacy stamped up mocked every bit of love the fans and sport lovers bequeathed to them.
However, it is a suitable picture of the society that we are of it. No logic of responsibility, denial after all wrongdoings, insubordination when faced up, finding scapegoats to emit our annoyance and irritation on and, in the end, the supremacy of progressing.
