Tribal leaders and Masood Kausar in sync

Masood Kausar, the governor of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recently made a statement which appealed to the militants of the area to join hands with the government and work collaboratively to find success in bringing about positive societal change.

Kausar expressed himself in the following manner at the meeting that was held at the Governor’s House: “Pakistan is an Islamic democratic state where change can be brought about through democratic means and elected parliament. Whosoever wishes so should
go for democratic mode not undemocratic means.”

The meeting was held with the delegation of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI), Khyber Agency. The leaders of the delegation were Said Kabir Khan and Shamsuddin Afridi. Both of the leaders were appreciative of the fact that the governor was willing to work with
the militants of the Khyber Agency in order to reach development in the area. Along with that, both of the leaders also showed their approval of the fact that the government had extended the Political Parties Order-2002 to FATA. Not only that, there were some
amendments that were made to the Frontier Crimes Regulation that favoured the militants and made their existence easy. Both the leaders also showed their approval of those amendments too. These leaders specifically thanked the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali
Zardari for having met with the two most major and pending demands of the people of the tribal areas.

The significance of the amendments is that they will provide the means for the militants to come into the mainstream politics of the country.

On their part, the delegation also expressed their disapproval of the fact that religious extremism is prevalent in the country and the abuse of power and militancy. Having made the assertion, the leaders of the delegation shared their feelings and asserted
that they would be providing support to the government with any means possible to them in order to see peace in the region of FATA.

However, the delegation also mentioned some of the other problems that the people of FATA faced which included issues like education, health and basic living facilities along with the lack of provision of water.
