X-Men: First Class is a Sci-Fi action drama film which is directed by Mathew Vaughn and was released on June, 2011 worldwide. It did good business everywhere including Pakistan.
Produced by Bryan Singer, man who resurrected Superman and brought X-Men to life, this X-Men instalment is a prequel for the X-Men trilogy. It is set in 1962, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and focuses on the relationship between Charles Xavier (starred
by James McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr aka Magneto (played by Michael Fassbender). It also lime lights the origin of their groups, X-Men and Brotherhood of Mutants.
Before they were arch nemeses, Xavier and Lensherr were best buddies. In 1962, they were working together with other Mutants to stop the greatest threat the world ever known. In the process, differ in opinions on how to cope with humans led an eternal war
began between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men. Xavier wanted peace and befriends with humans but Lensherr wanted to be superior among human race and to control them.
Along with this, Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) and Emma Frost (January Jones) plants several obstacles as they wanted a war between humans and mutants.
Early filming started on August 2010 in Oxford, England and then moved to Pinewood Studios in Iver and later to Georgia in October. It employed 1150 shots of visual effects which were done by seven companies.
X-Men: First Class did awesome business on its opening weekend and also debuted as number one at the American and Canadian box office. It earned an approximate of $55.1 million from 6900 screens at 3,641 locations on its opening weekend. It was much lower
than earnings from the opening weekends of X-Men: The Last Stand ($102.7 million), X2: X-Men United ($85.5 million) and X-Men Origins: Wolverine ($85 million), but it was slightly higher than the earnings of the original film ($54.5 million).
Besides this, it received positive reviews with a survey from review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes showing an average rating of 7.4 out of 10 from 231 reviews.
The Hollywood Reporter, which is among the major trade publications, described the film as "audacious, confident and fuelled by youthful energy", and said that "director Vaughn impressively maintains a strong focus dedicated to clarity and dramatic power
… and orchestrates the mayhem with a laudable coherence, a task made easier by a charging, churning score by Henry Jackman…."
This superhero action flick is a must watch for everyone as it includes a prospect of everything, from emotions to action sequences.
