“Back to the future” takes life
Friday, November 4th, 2011 3:22:19 by sara.anwarWhen I was a kid, I watched “Back to the Future” starring Micheal J. Fox and it was an instant hit with me. I watched it over and over again but the charm of that movie never eroded away. The movie was a fitting blend of Action & Adventure, Science Fiction
& Fantasy and Comedy, all-in-one.
It featured how time-travel could zap you back to past, with the option to visit future too. It was actually fascinating how they had painted the “Future “in it, with all the technological advancements, which were non-existent at that time.
The flick was so gripping and fascinating that it left a lasting impact on my mind and I always unconsciously referred back to it in order to actually invisibly check how far we have reached.
Now is the era of mushrooming touch screens with mobile no longer a luxury, but it facilitates the option of Video conferencing, e-mails and e-newspapers. News alerts are on your palm, where you may command your personal assistant( read personal robots)
get tasks done for you,my friends we have entered into that Future Time Zone which was once dreamed of by the makers of “Back to the future”.
It is that point in time, when your mobile can serve as your personal genie and get things done for you, without you having to know about it.
I feel “Siri” in iPhone is just the beginning. With time it will take over all house hold appliances too, which does get scary after a certain point. Imagine if your personal activity has narrowed down to nil, which is the gist of having the voice recognition
systems, there is a fair chance that you will end up in hospitals with soaring cholesterol.
The time, when we will have our personal jets for commuting, as forseen by “Jetsons”, is not too far, which is exciting yet scary at the same time.
