Chairman PPP-Sherpao urges unity in Khyber Pakhtunkwa

The chairman of PPP-Sherpao Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has asked the people of Khyber Pakhtunkwa to unite and fight for their rights with concerted efforts under an agreed leadership as the leaders of Punjab and Sind have always
disappointed them.

Addressing a public gathering in Polo ground Chitral on Thursday, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao criticized the PPP government for rolling back the Lowari tunnel project which is not only a dream project of the people of Chitral but
for the whole country as it connects the central Asian states thereby opening new avenue of development and prosperity.

The annual development plan of National Highway Authority carries many projects of new roads in Punjab and Sind but Lowari tunnel project has been neglected altogether only and only because it is not situated in either of the two
provinces, he said.

Mr. Sherpao said that the government has sent a bad image of the country by failing to fulfill the terms of contract with the Korean construction who had been awarded the contract of Lowari tunnel project and the company has shifted
its staff, machinery, and equipments from the area that is a great debacle for the project.

Regarding the policy of the government about the militancy in the country Mr. Sherpao alleged that by crying hoarse about the menace of militants, the government is extorting billions of US dollars but no one knows about the expenditure
of the said amount as the most affected area of Malakand Division, including Chitral, has been pushed to backwardness.

He urged the international donor agencies to directly utilize their donation in the affected areas in transparent manner instead of routing it through the government during which a major part of it is wasted in corruption.

Mr. Sherpao asked the government to come out with a comprehensive and special package of development utilizing the foreign donated funds as this was the worst affected area and has yet to recover from the shocks of terrorism and
Chitral has been affected indirectly due to the situation in the neighbouring districts of Upper and Lower districts and Swat.

Mr. Sherpao said that if  he gets a chance to serve Chitral, he will change the very destiny of the area but exploiting its own natural resources in the form of water and minerals as there is potential of more than 18 thousands
of hydro electricity in the district.

On this occasion, the provincial president of the party Sikandar Hayat Sherpao and district president Abdul Wali Khan Abid also addressed and criticized the provincial government for indulging in corruption and deforestation in
large scale in Chitral.

Many workers of PPP and Awami National, Party (ANP) joined the PPP-Sherpao on this occasion who were garlanded and welcomed by Aftab Sherpao.
