Govinda regretful of his decision to join politics

The superstar took five years break from the movie industry and decided to try his luck in the field of politics. He became the Member of Parliament from North Mumbai after winning the general elections in 2004.
However, The 47-year-old artist now feels that it was one of the worst decisions of his life to join politics, as the political affairs do not suit his personality.
"I found myself dealing with Ram Naik instead of Karishma Kapoor. It was really difficult time for me. I became 108 kgs during that period. When I decided to say goodbye to politics, it was hard to shed the extra flab," Govinda told PTI.
"Sometime something does not suit and the same happened to me. I won’t call it a dirty game but I must say it’s very difficult to survive in politics when you don’t have any political background. It was literally the saddest period of my life. I am happy that
I came out of it without a bad name," said the actor.
Widely regarded as one of the best comedy actors in India, Govinda has given a number hits like Raja Babu, Coolie No 1, Hero No 1 and Partner.
He believes that it is not possible for him to stay out of Bollywood, as he belonged to this field and the film industry is just like his second home.
His new project, Loot is set to hit cinema screen all across the globe today. In the comedy movie, the great artist will be seen sharing screen space with the newcomers, such as Mimoh Chakraborty and Shweta Bhardwaj.
Talking about his new film, Govinda shared that he had to lose almost 30kgs for the shooting. He also gave full credit to his director Rajneesh Thakur – somebody who pushed the actor to regain his full fitness.
“It was necessary for me to lose weight because the new league of actors are very health conscious," added the veteran actor who started off his film career in the late 1970s with ‘Mit Jayenge Mitane Wale’.
