Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou is set to learn his fate today as his party faces a confidence vote in the Parliament on Friday. His proposal to bailout Greece from the financial turmoil it has been going
through by European countries has been accepted but the opposition demands a resignation and early elections to be held.

Greece is going through tough times at the moment as it faces financial and political instability due to heavy debts from the European Union. The debt is said to be around 200 billion Euros which has caused a crisis in Europe.

If the Parliament fails to vote in favour of the current Prime Minister or the vote of confidence is not fulfilled, the country would face an exit for the Euro Zone which means they would not use the common currency ‘Euro’ any
longer.

Papandreou claimed that the government will remain and that his party will not step down despite the turmoil as they do not want to be irresponsible. His reply came in response to the opposition’s demand of a resignation.

“Everything is on the table. Well, the government will be. But let’s talk about it. Let’s debate it. You don’t expect for a government to resign. That would be irresponsible,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.

The Prime Minister insisted the package offered will be in the best interest of the country and Greece would surely benefit from the deal in the future.

“We managed to get the biggest-ever package ever given to a country on the planet. Please tell me. Name one government that has ever brought to Greece such a package,” he continued.

Papandreou urged the country to support him in this situation as Unity is the most important thing at this point and the only way to get out of the crisis.

“We have to go through this difficult process in order to come to the other end. National unity is the most important tool in order to get out of this crisis,” he concluded.

The decision will be announced later on Friday.
