November 03, 2011 should be remembered as a special day in the sports history of Pakistan. It was yet another instance when Hockey upstaged its more popular cousin Cricket without getting the necessary attention. However, Pakistani media took the cake on
a night with mixed emotions.
Three former members of Pakistan national cricket team were sentenced to varying amount of jail time in England. Elsewhere in another part of the world, another Pakistani team was earning plaudits of different kind.
Pakistan national hockey team won against Australia in tri-nations final. The thumping 4-2 win eclipsed the shady proceedings of English courtrooms that have captivated Pakistani audiences for over a year.
However, in the midst of great achievements by the hockey team at the home of Australian, the best team in the current circuit, Pakistani Media was at its worst. They were insensitive, irrational and a bunch of misbehaving individuals who should be stripped
of their titles.
It was a time of rejoicing and mourning, but what was happening on air was shameful. The derogatory questions asked to the families of the disgraced cricketers were not enough for these propaganda thriving idiots.
What they want is mirch masala and they will go to any limits to attain them. It was sad to watch Mohammad Aamer’s family members being interrogated. Who gave the media power to go in their homes and degrade them?
The incidents outside the residence of Muhammad Asif were even worse. A reporter of the biggest blue news reporting channel of Pakistan (you know who I am talking about) was the worst of the lot. He had the audacity to go to Sheikhupura and report from right
outside his home.
After making the half an hour trip from Lahore, he was unwilling to understand that people might actually leave their homes for any reason possible. He shameless individual went on to give his esteemed opinions about why the lights were turned off.
The definition of news has not been understood by the journalist community of Pakistan. They fail to understand what separates fact from opinions and continue to live in their hazy world.
It was a shame what happened with the families of Pakistani cricketers. We fail to understand the trauma they must have been going through and act without restrain.
