Doctors will remain available during Eid holidays to look after dengue patients – Shehbaz Sharif

The Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has assured that consultants and doctors will remain available in hospitals during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays to look after the dengue patients. The CM said that a comprehensive plan has been worked out in this regard.

Shehbaz Sharif was presiding over a meeting of emergency meeting of emergency committee for reviewing arrangements for eradication of dengue virus in Lahore on Friday. The chief minister said that the government of Punjab is taking solid steps for eradication
of the menace from the province and provision of curative facilities in various cities of Punjab.

Giving the details of steps taken by the provincial government to ensure provision of medical facilities during Eid holidays, Shehbaz Sharif said that a team has been formed that will visit hospitals during the next four days to monitor medical facilities
for the patients as well as the attendance of doctors during holidays. The Punjab Chief Minister said that besides sending special teams from Lahore to other cities, the doctors and nurses of other cities are also being given training on the fatal disease.
Shahbaz Sharif said that he would also hold meetings during the holidays to review the provision of curative facilities to patients in different cities of Punjab. 

In the meanwhile, two more died of dengue on Friday. Those who succumbed their lives to dengue on Friday include 28-year-old Mrs Ishtiaq and 32-year-old Sumera. The former died Services Hospital while the later passed away at Mayo Hospital. With the death
of these  two, the total number of deaths in Punjab has reached the figure of 310, including 270 in Lahore.

Around 98 patients were tested positive for the virus all over the province on Friday. Off these 98, 58 cases were reported in the provincial capital of Lahore. The total number of dengue patients in Punjab has reached to 20489 out of them 17060 belongs
to Lahore.

Earlier this week, the Chief Minister had announced to conduct an essay writing and speech competition among the students of the province on dengue to formulate proposals for promoting awareness in the general public and figure out ways to eradicate this
menace from the province.
