Japan cultural festival: An effort to bring Japanese cultural spirit into Pakistan
Saturday, November 5th, 2011 8:47:44 by Umair HassanPakistan and Japan have long bonding of closeness since both shared social values, along with family traditions, music ethnicity and bilingual differences within the societies.
To showcase the same level of warmth and long relationship between two countries, the Japanese Embassy and Islamabad Japan School organized a cultural festival at the National Art Gallery on Friday in collaboration with the Pakistan National Council of the
Arts (PNCA) and tried to project the traditional Japanese music, dance for the Pakistani audience.
The event was liberated with full of Japanese inner cultural norms by the students of the Islamabad Japanese School. They performed two dances: ‘Yagi-bushi’ and ‘Eisaa’ and the drumming ‘Nagara-Seiryuu-Noboriuchi’ to present the musical pieces of different
parts of Japan in a fascinating and classic sound.
The children performed some lively and rhythmic dance that spell-bounded in a captivating way. During their dance, the students also presented a bilingual narration with their performances.
The main point of discussion remained, “Nagara Seiryu Noboriuchi”, a Japanese style of drumming was presented at the end of the show. It was an energetic, boisterous, and prevailing performance, with the resonance of the drums vibrating in the soul of both
performer and listener.
Apart from this cultural festival where children performed their talents at very best, a Japanese Film Festival has also been started in Islamabad at the National Art Gallery with collaboration of Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) and Embassy
of Japan as a part of the promising Japanese Cultural Events “2010-2011”.
This film festival and especially today’s cultural festival, no doubt are providing great experience to the people of Pakistan to understand the Japanese culture in a diverse manner with close array, but on a larger scale, these kinds of festive get-togethers
bring countries even closer.
